This surgery utilizes the tissue and blood supply in a person’s abdomen to reconstruct the chest without the use of implants (usually).

But as with so many things, access to this specific type of surgery is under attack.

  1. I had implants after my double mastectomy. Years later, I had a redo-reconstruction because the right implant had hardened. Probably from a tiny speck of bacteria. When the right implant collapsed/hardened, it had pressed on nerves that even effected my right arm and back. After the redo I am great. I feel good.
