A tale of two doctors …

Journal entry by Abigail Johnston —

It was the best of times and the worst of times … lol. Two doctor appointments today and good news all around.

Saw medical oncologist’s office first. Tumor markers are still trending DOWN (from 89 to 63 and from 2 to .6) and blood work is still ok. White blood cells came down from 5.19 on Friday to 4.02 today. Expected but something to watch. I’m entering a new phase of treatment where we watch to see how the medication is doing. Scans will happen every 3 to 6 months for a while. Hope is that this treatment will last for a long time.

First post op appointment with the surgeon who did my hysterectomy was the second appointment. All checks out and I’m free to drive and lift 15 pounds. Still no immersion in water to protect the internal stitches. Pathology report on the removed tissue showed quite a bit of endometriosis which is interesting. No cancer though which was quite a bit more important.

So back to my slow organizing and preparing for the move to Miami. I’ve made some progress but it hardly looks like I’ve made a dent.

Thanks to everyone who checked in after the surgery and have supported me in this journey. It’s hard to get used to not feeling like I’m 100% and then to realize that some of that is just the new me. I’m still adjusting expectations of myself. Hard to do.

Hugs to you all.
