As some of you know, I’m a bit of an insurance junkie. Elliot was a bit mystified how much of an easy mark I’ve always been for insurance of various kinds. Yet, when the worst has happened we’ve been thankful for the various policies I’ve had to ease the transition into retirement. Today, the last disability policy that was attempting not to cover our business expenses caved. I can take too much of the credit because I got the call they were going to do what the contract says after I asked our agent to get involved. He got on the phone and threatened not to sell the policies further and to ensure that his vast network knew how they were trying to get out of honoring the agreement. I’ve paid their premiums for nearly 5 years and am still baffled by the crazy positions they’ve taken over the past few months. Anyway, the praise today is that some checks will arrive at the time when they will be needed most.
