What’s next?

Journal entry by Abigail Johnston —

Thank you to everyone who has checked in with me. It’s been such a whirlwind since I got home from the hospital and I haven’t done as good a job as I’d planned to keep everyone updated. So …

First round of chemo … done!

First round of radiation … done!

Still continuing treatment to strengthen my bones and fill in the areas where the cancer has been killed by the chemo and radiation. Tumor markers in my blood have continued to decline (75 to 12.7 and 300+ to 153). My other numbers are good and it appears that I’m tolerating the chemo overall ok. It’s been rough from an energy perspective but being done with this step feels great. I’m walking better every day and being more mobile has been great. I drove for a short distance today and that piece of normalcy was welcome.

Onto the next steps …

Spine consult this Thursday

Surgical consult for ovary removal 8/2

Bone scan on 8/4

2nd opinion at the Moffitt center on 8/9

2nd opinion at Baptist Hospital on 8/11

Tests to come back …

Expanded genetic panel

Genomic testing

I’m encouraged to have the first bout of active treatment done and am hopeful to look at trials or other options as we move into the next phase. Medical marijuana card is due shortly and we’re going to be experimenting with other natural remedies and immune system support to make sure all bases are covered. The firm closure is going well and I’m glad to see my clients and employees transitioning into new homes. So thankful for all the people showing such care and concern for me and my family. I am truly blessed.
